Partnership with Space to Create

In July ’16 the first Young Men’s Leadership Retreat was held at Cape Eleuthera Island School in partnership with Space to Create. The program aims to support young men in the community reach their potential as leaders. For the first week of the program participants live on The Island School campus, immersed in sustainability and marine stewardship. The pillars of the program are discipline, support and growth. The program is open to 14 students ages 13-18 each summer. The target demographic for this program is the at-risk youth that has historically been underserved in our community, the young men of South Eleuthera. The aim is to create a lasting impact and foster the sustained growth as a leader in this community. To accomplish the enduring meaningful change we are coupling this program with a year long apprenticeship held in house. The participant’s will be paired with a mentor who will firstly impart a skill and secondly offer mentorship, and guidance where needed.
