Gain hands-on experience in marine conservation and ecology
CEI internships offer the chance to gain hands-on experience of research related to marine island ecosystems and their conservation, and environmental education in an amazing location. Our new intern programme is designed to support a new research initiative at CEI and provide an insight into the variety of aspects associated with a remote research and education facility, allowing all interns to get involved with a number of different projects across our organisation. CEI interns will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of a range of research techniques, including data collection in the field and wet laboratory, sample analysis in dry laboratories and data manipulation in the office. All our internships at CEI offer the chance to cross-train across different research themes, where scientists turn photographers, and educators can become researchers. Ultimately, our internships offer the chance to live, learn and work with people from a diversity of backgrounds, all sharing a passion for tropical marine island science conservation and education.

Based on program schedule interns may have opportunity to experience kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, community outreach and island exploration.
Partial financial aid opportunities are available. This is a highly competitive process and applications will be evaluated based on merit. Please submit the following materials along with your application packet to be considered for partial aid: 1) Additional section to your cover letter explaining reasons financial aid is requested, 2) An essay describing how the internship will benefit you and your future career goals. Decisions regarding financial aid will be delivered following interviews.
Please include the intern application form with your cover letter and resume in a single .pdf file and submit to our job portal. You will not be contacted until the application deadline is passed and, if successful, will be called for interview. Offers will typically be made approximately 4 weeks after the application deadline. Due to the high volume of applicants we are unfortunately unable to correspond with all applicants.
