A collaborative project with Deep Creek Primary School
The goal of this program is to provide students with access to nutritional fruit and vegetables, as well an opportunity to gain valuable practical skills. Farming was once a common practice on Eleuthera however with the peak of tourism in the 1970’s many farmers closed shop and took advantage of the new opportunities tourism presented. However the demand for tourism on Eleuthera was not sustained and there are currently high levels of unemployment. This initiative aims to teach students responsibility, practical skills and demonstrate subsistence. Every Tuesday, during semester time students, teachers, parents and community members join our staff that are committed to assisting the primary school with the maintenance and expansion of the project.
